Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you for your support at the Book Fair this week.  The amount of books sold means that Pickhurst Academy will receive £465 worth of books for the school from Scholastics—fantastic!

May we remind you that the playground gates to the school do not open until 8.30am.  Children must not be left unaccompanied to wait outside the gates before 8.30am.  A member of staff is at the gates from 8.30am and children arriving after 8.50am should ensure that they sign in late at the school office.

There are a number of parents/carers of children in Year 6 who still owe the second and/or third payment for the Wales trip.  If your child would still like to attend the trip please bring the amount owed (either £70 or £140) to the office by 9am on Monday 5th February.  If payment is not received by this time we will presume your child no longer wishes to attend.  Please also be aware that the final payment of £100 is due by 21st March.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, Mr Morgan (Caretaker) has left to return to landscape gardening and Mr Oyeleye has been appointed as Relief Caretaker.  I am sure you will all welcome him to Pickhurst Academy.

Mrs Smoothy, our forest school/play leader, will be leaving us at the end of next week to take up a post elsewhere.  We are very sorry to see her go.  Mrs Smoothy has been an excellent team member, she developed forest school for Pickhurst Academy and has nurtured the children’s enthusiasm and love of the outdoors.  She also introduced the popular gardening club to Pickhurst, has run the daffodil competition and entered Pickhurst in the Borough’s wheelbarrow competition, amongst many other things.  Her happy, cheerful nature will be missed.  I am sure you will join us in wishing her all the very best for the future.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Marsh (Acting Principal)
