Dear Parents & Carers,
Happy New Year, and I hope you all had a fantastic break over the Christmas period. It has been a great first week back for the children and staff here at Pickhurst Academy. On Tuesday, I did an assembly with all the children and we discussed new year’s resolutions; it was very interesting to hear what the children had been thinking about! It was encouraging to see how reflective the children had been and how many of them are wanting to either try something new this year and/or improve on something they have already done beforehand.
I am also delighted to announce to you that, at the beginning of January, Mr Spencer had a baby boy! I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mr Spencer and his family on their wonderful news. As a result, Mr Spencer will be on paternity leave and is scheduled to return to school early February. 3S will be covered by a long-term supply teacher, Mr Gillett in the interim.
The Spring term is set to be a busy one with lots of exciting events taking place, including cross country events, new sporting competitions and tournaments. Parents’ Evenings will also happen this term, so please keep an eye out for when the booking forms go live to all parents to book your desired appointments with your child’s teachers.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA, once again, for all of their hard work and commitment last term. They raised a fantastic amount of money for the school, and the children, staff and families are all very grateful for their amazing efforts.
I received an email from Hayes Church passing on their thanks to all the children and teachers who decorated the Christmas tree, which received lots of lovely comments. The total raised for Bromley District Talking News was £3,200.
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
