Dear Parents & Carers,
Friday was a very exciting day for some of our children who attended the O2 arena, in London. They participated in the Young Voices event, whereby they sang as part of a large choir made up of several schools from across London and the South East.
It was a fantastic event, and I would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Mason and Mr Olsen for taking the children and for enabling this event to happen. Well done to everyone involved; this is such an amazing thing to be part of and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
On Thursday, we had a very positive and useful internal review, led by the senior leadership team of the school. We were also visited by the Assistant Headteacher from Darrick Woods Infants & Nursery School – I would like to thank Mr Broughton for giving up his valuable time to be part of the very useful discussions that took place as a result of the day.
I will be sending out letters to parents very soon based on our findings, which include: communication to parents, ability sets across the Academy and how the foundation subjects are taught at Pickhurst.
On Tuesday 28th January, Year 3 will be visiting the Natural History Museum, linked to their new IPC topic ‘Footprints from the Past: Dinosaurs’. The children will have a brilliant day, exploring the fascinating exhibits and seeing the dinosaurs up close and personal . Have a great time Year 3!
Next week, the children will also be completing their obstacle courses, as part of their PE sessions, with our Progressive Sports coaches. This will be in support of the NSPCC’s fundraising efforts, so please do give generously to support this fantastic charity. Year 5 and Year 6 children will be having very important workshops following this
fundraising event, led by NSPCC staff.
