Dear Parents & Carers,

This week, your child will have brought home letters regarding the after school clubs for next half-term (after Christmas). Hopefully, you will agree that there is a fantastic selection of clubs and after-school provisions on offer to the children, here at Pickhurst Academy. The clubs have already proven to be very popular this term, especially our new cooking club. As a result, we have added an extra session of cooking club each week, from January 2020.

Please do take the time to read the sign-up sheets for each club, and return the slips to the main school office by Friday 13th December 2019.

Next week is going to be a very busy week; the children will be visiting the ‘Life Bus’ where they will learn about a lot of important lessons linked to the PSHCE curriculum. Please ensure that you have returned permission slips to your child’s class teacher, as without this, they will not be able to access this great opportunity.

I am also looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming events in the weeks ahead of us, including the children’s Christmas performances. Please find a schedule of when these are being held at the back of this newsletter in the ‘key dates’ section. Please remember that the school will, unfortunately, be closed on Thursday 12th December 2019 due to the general election.

I would like to also take this opportunity to remind all parents & carers, once again, to be mindful of our neighbours when parking their vehicles at busy times, such as drop-off and pick-up times. I have had several complaints from neighbours recently due to some parents parking irresponsibly- across the grass verges and also across our neighbours’ driveways. Please be respectful to local residents when you are coming to school in the mornings & afternoons.

I hope you have a restful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you next week.

Kind regards,

Mr Siggs
