Dear Parents & Carers,

This week, an internal review was conducted by the senior leadership team, as well as members of Chancery Education Trust, including Ms Begum (Principal at Davidson Primary Academy).

I am so proud of what was observed in lessons, lunchtime and throughout the day, and it was lovely to hear that the children enjoyed coming to school and were able to articulate how they are supported and challenged in their lessons.

Our whole-school targets and goals for this academic year are as follows:

To ensure that standards in ‘Greater Depth’ for Maths exceed the national average by the end of KS2.

  1. To develop and embed a new & bespoke Pickhurst curriculum overview.
  2. To develop the role of pupil ‘Subject Ambassadors’ across the school.

To ensure there is an inclusive, nurturing and aspirational environment for all, whereby the Additionally Resourced Provision is fully embedded into the school community, culture and ethos

To ensure attendance, particularly for the most vulnerable children, is at least in line with the national average (95%)

To ensure behaviour is exemplary at all time, including lunchtimes and transitions

To develop and enhance the lunchtime & after-school provision for the children

To promote and develop extra-curricular activities and an enrichment programme for the children

To celebrate and promote the diverse life in modern Britain

To develop a whole-school understanding of sustainability and care for the environment

To develop links with local industry & community, and to develop a sense of enterprise across the school

Rigorously pursue & continue with a robust system of safeguarding protocols and associated staff and

governor training

To raise the profile of middle leaders across the school, including having revised action plans for subject

To establish a Local Governing Body for Pickhurst

Please do let me know if there are any areas of our school development plan (above) that you feel you may be able to offer support and your expertise with – we would welcome any local businesses and/or role-models to lead special assemblies and workshops throughout the academic year. Please contact the office ( if you feel you are able to help in any way.

Please can I remind all parents that the senior leadership team must close the playground gates at 3.35pm each day for safeguarding reasons as we have multiple clubs running each evening after school still, and we would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that children/families are not still playing on the school playground/equipment at the end of the day. Thank you!

Yours sincerely,

Mr Siggs,
