It has been another great week at Pickhurst Academy! I have heard so many interesting things about the Y6 trip to Splattermake this week and last week. All the children thoroughly enjoyed their experiences, and I am sure they have learnt so much by experiencing what it was like for an evacuee child first-hand.
We believe it is so important for our children to experience events like Splattermake as they enrich the curriculum and their studies. The children will have learnt to sew and cook from typical recipes which an evacuee child would have used at the time; this is fantastic for the children’s understanding and appreciation of these important moments in history!
Next week, I will be focussing on attendance and punctuality. If your child has an overall attendance rate lower than our expected rate (97%) then a letter will be sent home as a reminder about the importance of being in school and on time everyday. Our current overall attendance figure for the whole school is 95.9% which needs to improve by another 1-2%; I would appreciate your support in this matter and ensuring
