Dear Parents & Carers,
Welcome back to all our Pickhurst families! I do hope you all had a wonderful summer break, and are ready for the start of a brand new academic year. It has been absolutely lovely to walk around the school this week, visiting classrooms and meeting our new year 3 children.
The behaviour and attitude to learning has been fantastic and I was also very impressed by the writing produced by our Year 3 pupils in their first few days here at the juniors. The children were working together to think of powerful adjectives and exciting language to use in their writing, and then wrote their extended pieces of writing. Well done everyone!
Year 6 have also been busy, starting their project work for their new IPC unit ‘Myths & Legends’. The children have created stunning artwork, to be used as front covers for their IPC books. I was particularly impressed by Mrs Stevens’ form; every child had created amazing drawings which were all very different unique.
It has also been a busy first week back for the teaching team in both Jupiter & Saturn classes; the children have been enjoying getting to know some new faces, and very much enjoyed creating jigsaw pieces to represent themselves for a new display.
I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know some key dates for the term ahead. We will be doing parents’ evenings slightly different this term for our Year 3 families.
The Year 3 parents’ evenings will take place before the half-term break, with just your child’s form tutor for an appointment time of 10 minutes. Year 4, 5 and 6 parents’ evenings will remain as they were in previous years, whereby you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s form and set teachers.
- ¨ Year 3: 15th – 17th October 2019
- ¨ Year 4: 12th – 14th November 2019
- ¨ Years 5 & 6: 19th – 21st November 2019
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
