ENGLISH

Topics: 

Traditional Tale – “Why is the Sky so High?” Recounts

Learning:

In traditional tales children will be focusing on openings and endings.

In recounts children will be focusing on organizing paragraphs around a theme.

What you can do to help your child at home:

  • Read and discuss recounts and traditional tales.
  • Watch out for news reports on television.
  • Try writing your spelling sentences as a news report.

MATHS

Topics:

Number and place value, fractions, measurement (mass), addition and subtraction and angles.

Learning:

In Maths our key objectives are:

  • Consolidate multiplication and division facts and reason mathematically.
  • Recognise find and write unit fractions of a set of objects. Be able to add fractions with same denominator.
  • Measure and compare mass.
  • Solve missing number problems.
  • Test whether angles are greater or less than a right angle.

What you can do to help your child at home:

  • Ask your child to explain and show you any methods they have learnt in class.
  • Quick fire question about their times table knowledge.
  • Recognising angles in everyday objects.

Topics: Music and Sound

Learning

In ICT we will be using iPads to:

  • use ICT to select and record sounds in multimedia software
  • use music software to organise and reorganise sounds
  • locate, record, save and retrieve sounds
  • To begin to layer sounds using music composition software, Audacity or Podium
  • Add sounds from different sources.
