Year Group 6

Welcome to Year 6

As the oldest year group in the academy, Year 6 pupils have access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences that go beyond the regular curriculum.
Throughout the year, children are given additional responsibilities to help develop leadership skills and confidence.
Many take on roles such as prefects or house captains, supporting both staff and younger pupils and helping to maintain a positive school environment. Year 6 pupils are expected to set the standard for behaviour and attitude, serving as role models for the rest of the school. They also assist with school events, parent information days, and welcoming visitors, developing their organisational and social skills.
Independence is a key focus in Year 6. Pupils are encouraged to manage their homework, projects, and other tasks with greater autonomy, preparing them for the transition to secondary school. They are supported to take initiative, make decisions, and problem-solve confidently.
At the end of the year, the whole year group comes together to create a grand production. Every child has the opportunity to take part, whether as actors, singers, members of the choir, musicians, directors, or technicians. The production celebrates the many talents of the pupils and is a highlight of the school year, reflecting their creativity, teamwork, and dedication.
